Public exhibition of the three design options
The informal consultation over the three design options for the new bridge over the A429 Coventry Road closed last Friday, with over three hundred responses received. The three-day public exhibition at Kenilworth Library was well attended, and there were follow-on displays at both the Library and the University of Warwick. Thanks to everyone who participated and gave us their views, which needless to say covered a wide range of opinions. The consultation responses are now being analysed by the Warwickshire Observatory team at the County Council, and the results will be presented to the Connect2 Kenilworth Steering Group next week. The Steering Group will then decide which of the design options goes forward into the formal planning process. |
Finham Brook bridge - update Although the new bridge has been installed over Finham Brook at the end of Forge Road, the temporary nature of the approaches on both sides of it have caused a number of justifiable complaints. The temporary fencing has now been fastened in place more securely, pending receipt and installation of new fencing which will match and blend in with the bridge itself. The path leading to the bridge on the Kenilworth Common side will be worked on again by the District Council this week, to provide a better temporary surface until the final path is constructed along this whole section of the route. |

Woodland Road parking
Residents in the Woodland Road area have being experiencing problems with inconsiderate parking by people accessing the existing section of the Greenway at Crackley, particularly leisure users of the path at weekends. While it’s great that the path is already proving so popular, please show consideration for local residents by parking carefully without blocking drives, or in fact consider whether it’s really necessary to park so close at all. As more sections of the scheme open up, then hopefully this problem will reduce, as there will be more access points and less need for people to use their vehicles to get there. This is a walking and cycling scheme, after all! It is a top priority of the Steering Group to ensure that entry points to the path along its whole route are as accessible as possible to all legitimate users, while discouraging illegitimate use by motorcyclists or other vehicle users. County council officers are working closely with Sustrans technical support to identify and implement the best possible solution at each access point along the route.
