Rowington, Shrewley & Mousley End |
Unfortunately it is no longer possible to take the short cut (point 11) as the access from the canal towpath to W42 has been blocked. Access is also blocked at Tythe Barn Bridge. W42 can still be accessed by continuing along the towpath to point 12. Turn left to W43 opposite the village hall. Take W43 ( following the waymarks) over Tythe Barn bridge until , after a quarter of a mile, it junctions with W42 where there is a sign post. A right turn takes you to the short cut at point 11. However if you do it this way it is an alternative route rather than a short cut! We understand that the County is looking into the reasons for the blockages by the landowner and whether these can be resolved. British Waterways which constructed the access steps is not involved. An alternative short cut would be to use W47a marked in green between point 2 and 3. This starts at a stile just after a barn next to Old Farm, Mousley End. Continue to another stile and a track on the right hand side of a hedge. At the hedge corner cross the field, bearing slightly left to a bridge which is at point 8 of the main walk. |

Rowington, Shrewley, Haseley & Mousley End |
Unfortunately it is no longer possible to leave the towpath at point 4 (Tythe Barn Bridge) as the access has been blocked. Instead continue along the towpath to Shrewley tunnel. At the road turn left and pick up the route at point 5. We understand that the County is looking into the reasons for the blockages by the landowner and whether these can be resolved. British Waterways which constructed the access steps is not involved. |

Kenilworth & Hatton |
Between points 9 and 10 the path passes between a pond and a stream (Inchford Brook). Unfortunately there is a tendency for the pond to overspill to the stream across the path. This can be a serious inconvenience particularly in wet weather. See photos below. The middle photograph is of a ditch plank nearby that also suffers in wet weather. A couple of years ago it floated 50yds away in the floods. It is now restored and hopefully securely anchored. We have complained to the WCC on numerous occasions about this, so far without result. The Countryside Access Team do not consider a causeway, like the one nearby, to be the answer. They favour a drainage system that would carry the water from the pond to the stream by pipe under the path. This would be fine except that it is a relatively expensive solution that is somewhat low in their priority list. You could help to keep up the pressure by emailing your comments to us about the problem. We will then pass them on to the County. In the meantime in wet weather wear wellies!

Woodloes, Warwick (near A46) |
The diversion of WB3 has now been confirmed. Where the existing path from Middle Woodloes reaches the A46 instead of crossing over the road at that point it now turns right along the hedge line until it reaches the underpass. (see map). | |||||||||||
